What a social media agency actually does for your money

Planning, filming, posting, answering comments, reporting: what is usually included, and six questions to ask before you sign with an agency.

Key takeaways A good agency takes over planning, production, publishing and reporting. Ask who films the content and how often. Ask who answers comments and messages. Make sure the accounts and the content stay yours.

Social media management can mean anything from a freelancer scheduling a few posts to a full team that films, edits, publishes and reports. Before you compare offers, it helps to know what the work actually involves.

What the work involves

  1. Planning: a monthly content calendar built around your products, offers and dates.
  2. Production: filming and designing reels, carousels and photos.
  3. Publishing: posting at the right time, with captions and hashtags.
  4. Community: monitoring comments and messages, answering or passing them on.
  5. Reporting: a monthly overview of reach, followers and enquiries.

Many offers cover only the third point. That is fine if you already produce great content yourself. If not, the bottleneck is production, and that is where an agency saves you the most time.

Six questions to ask before you sign

  • Who produces the content, and how often do you film?
  • How many posts and videos per month are included?
  • Do we approve everything before it goes live?
  • Who answers comments and direct messages?
  • What does the monthly report show, and is it about business results or only likes?
  • Who owns the accounts, the videos and the photos?
The cheapest offer is the one that brings in customers, not the one with the lowest monthly fee.

How we do it

At Digimark one team handles all five parts. We film once a month on location, publish 10 to 15 videos a month depending on the package, monitor comments and send a plain-language report every month. You approve the plan before anything is posted, and the accounts stay in your name.

What it costs

Prices depend on how much content you need and on which platforms. We do not work with a fixed price list: after a free strategy call you get a quote made for your business, with a contract term agreed together. That way you only pay for what actually helps you grow.
